A Touch of Christmas Magic Brings "New York Miracle" to Lahnstein Stage

Lahnstein, Germany – A festive atmosphere fills the auditorium at the Johannes-Gymnasium’s school stage as the Junge Buhne Lahnstein presents their holiday spectacle, "A New York Miracle." Inspired by the American classic, "The Miracle on 34th Street," this heartwarming production transports audiences to a world of Christmas cheer, now through mid-December.

"It’s the most wonderful time for the world," rings out as familiar carols fill the air, blending seamlessly with the vibrant energy of the young cast. Set against a backdrop of twinkling lights and evergreen hues, "A New York Miracle" tells the story of Kris Kringle, a man embodying the true spirit of Santa Claus, who unexpectedly finds himself amidst the bustling holiday crowds at Macy’s department store.

When Macy’s Santa accidentally falls ill, the store finds itself in a desperate search for a replacement just a week before Christmas. In a stroke of holiday magic, Kris Kringle arrives, bringing with him an unwavering belief in the spirit of the season.

Kringle’s genuine warmth and jolly persona resonate with young hearts, earning him adoration from children who eagerly place their Christmas wishes in his hands. However, not everyone is ready to accept Kringle’s authenticity. Some, skeptical of his jovial demeanor, perceive him as a delusional old man clinging to fairy tales in a rational world.

The play then delves into a deeper question: Is Kringle a charming embodiment of Christmas spirit or does his unwavering belief border on madness?

This compelling question drives the narrative, challenging audiences to confront their own beliefs about the power of faith and imagination during theHolidays.

The Junge Buhne Lahnstein delivers a captivating performance filled with singing and dancing, transporting their audience to a magical world that transcends time and place. Artistic director Corinna Schmitz expertly guides the production, weaving a contemporary tapestry of characters and storylines while staying true to the heart of the original tale.

The ensemble shines brightly. Günter Sporenberg, a seasoned actor with over 80 years of experience, brings an endearing warmth to Kris Kringle. His authentic Lahnstein slang adds a charming local touch to the beloved character.

Young talents Ben and Mine, portraying Timmi and Bobby respectively, deliver performances that captivate audiences with their genuine enthusiasm and charm.

Under Schmitz’s masterful direction, "A New York Miracle" offers more than just entertainment; it’s a timeless story that reminds us of the importance of believing in miracles, especially during the holiday season.

The production continues with special performances on December 6th and 7th at 7:00 PM. Tickets are available at www.junge-buehne-lahnstein.de or at the box office.
