Saudi Foreign Minister at Cairo Conference: We appreciate Egypt’s efforts to strengthen regional security – Youm7

Saudi Arabia Raises Alarm Over Gaza Crisis, Calls for International Action

Cairo, Egypt – Amidst escalating violence in the Gaza Strip, Saudi Arabia voiced mounting concern about the region’s precarious security situation. Speaking at a critical conference in Cairo aimed at bolstering humanitarian aid to Gaza, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan issued a stark warning: "the impact of the current escalation and expansion… warns of the danger of reaching an all-out war that is difficult to maintain."

The conference, spearheaded by Egypt, seeks to address the dire humanitarian crisis gripping Gaza. Bin Farhan, in a somber message broadcast by Cairo News Channel, emphasized the devastating toll the conflict has taken: "more than 4,000 Palestinians lost their lives at the hands of the barbaric war machine, more than 100,000 were injured, and almost 350,000 are still alive in bad inhuman conditions."

Bin Farhan expressed Saudi Arabia’s gratitude for Egypt’s ongoing efforts to enhance regional security, highlighting the "continuous Israeli attack and systematic targeting of civilians in the Gaza Strip on a daily basis." He poignantly described the plight of the Palestinian people: "the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip are subject to forced displacement and deliberate destruction as a result of clear violations of International Humanitarian Law."

Scenarios like the one in Gaza, while unfolding thousands of miles away, have a ripple effect on global security and humanitarian concerns, prompting questions about the international community’s responsibility to intervene. This conference comes on the heels of urgent appeals from Arab nations to lift Israel’s restrictions on aid to Gaza, following a controversial decision in October to suspend operations of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

"The humanitarian crisis in Gaza has reached an unbearable level, and under no circumstances must the situation in the region worsen," the Saudi Foreign Minister stressed, adding weight to the call for immediate and sustained action to alleviate the suffering of the Gazan people.
