Juventus Stumbles Late, Draws Lecce in Serie A
Lecce, Italy – Juventus dropped crucial points in their bid for Serie A supremacy after a frustrating 1-1 draw against Lecce on Monday. The Bianconeri, hampered by injuries, looked poised for victory after Andrea Cambiaso’s 68th-minute goal, only to concede a heartbreaking equalizer deep into stoppage time courtesy of Ante Rebic.
The match, played at Lecce’s Stadio Ettore Giardiniero, saw Juventus struggle with fatigue in the second half according to manager Thiago Motta.
"We saw in the second half, the team was running out of energy and we knew that was possible," Motta explained. “We played well in the first half, took an early lead, and then conceded at the end. We have to keep going, learn from our mistakes and prepare for the next game.”
The draw marks Juventus’ second consecutive tie in Serie A, leaving them in sixth place with 26 points, six adrift of league leaders Napoli.
Motta, who has seen his squad ravaged by injuries – nine players were unavailable for the Lecce clash – acknowledged the need for improvement and emphasized a positive outlook. “We have to make improvements, learn certain things and continue to think positively. We have to prepare ourselves for the next game, both physically and mentally," he said.
The disappointing result adds pressure on Juventus as they look to climb the Serie A table.
