Elton John Opens Up About Vision Loss, Remains Optimistic
Legendary musician Elton John shared a heartfelt message with fans last week, revealing the extent of his ongoing vision problems.
The 77-year-old icon, who recently attended the premiere of "The Devil Wears Prada: The Musical," spoke candidly about the challenges he’s facing.
"It’s hard for me to see," John told the audience, expressing gratitude to his husband David Furnish for his unwavering support.
John publicly addressed his vision struggles for the first time last summer. He disclosed that he had completely lost sight in his right eye due to an illness contracted in France.
In an interview with ABC News, John further revealed that his left eye was also deteriorating, raising concerns about his ability to continue making music. "I don’t know how to go into the studio and record it because I can’t see any words at first," he admitted.
Despite these challenges, John remains positive. "I’m so lucky, I’m the luckiest person in the world," he said, showcasing the remarkable resilience and spirit that have defined his legendary career.
