Community Mourns Loss of Beloved Strabane Resident Mary Caulfield

Strabane, Northern Ireland – The Strabane community is reeling from the loss of Mary Caulfield (née Mc Cay), a cherished local resident who passed away peacefully on November 29, 2024, at Altnagelvin Hospital.

Caulfield, who resided at 22 Glen Road, was 88 years old. She was predeceased by her husband, Charlie, but leaves behind a loving family, including her daughter Marie, son-in-law Peter, granddaughter Lisa (Iain), and great-grandchildren Jack, Oliver, Charlie, and Ella.

"Deeply regretted by her sorrowing daughter, son-in-law, granddaughter, great grandchildren, brothers, sisters and family circle," reads a statement released by the family.

Caulfield’s passing has left a void in the community, where she was known for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering generosity.

A devout Catholic, Caulfield’s life was deeply rooted in her faith. Her funeral will be held on Monday, December 2nd, with a Requiem Mass at the Sacred Heart Church on Derry Road at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery.

The family welcomes friends and community members to pay their respects at Caulfield’s home on Glen Road starting at 4:00 PM on Saturday, November 30th.

For those unable to attend in person, the Requiem Mass can be viewed online via the parish webcam at https://www.churchservices.tv/leckpatrick.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Society. Donations can be sent to Quigley Funeral Directors, 1A Newtown Place, Strabane.
