From 9:15 to 10:30 am, “Shop Small Saturday” shoppers can meet Eric Ferguson, a local author and social studies teacher at Reagan Middle School. Ferguson will be reading and signing copies of his middle-grade adventure novel, “The Protector of Dunbar,” the second installment in his popular series.

At noon, award-winning author Melanie Holmes will take center stage at Books On First. Holmes will discuss her book, “100 Things to Do in Illinois Before You Die,” a treasure trove of must-see attractions and exciting festivals throughout the state. Notably, Holmes authored “The Female Assumption,” which earned her the 2014 Global Media Award from the Population Institute for its themes of gender equality and education for women.
