This year, the city plans to achieve interest income of KRW 8 billion (KRW 7.7 billion in general accounting and KRW 300 million in special accounting) by the end of the year through the use of the global cash diversion system and strategic deposit of term deposits to secure independent financial resources. This is a 17% increase compared to the previous year’s interest income and is the highest ever.

Accordingly, Gimje City conducts a general reorganization every year in managing cash deposits other than revenue and expenditures. Deposits that have passed the return period are immediately returned after checking related details to protect creditors’ rights. Previously, interest was paid by operating funds only through MMDA (money deposit/withdrawal accounts), but by actively reflecting the revision of related enforcement ordinances, the basis for operating funds as high-interest term deposits was established and work was promoted.
As a result of these efforts, we secured interest income of approximately 150 million won from this year to February next year. This is the highest ever for cash interest income other than tax revenue and expenditure, and is a 4.7 times increase from the previous year’s interest income.
We plan to continue to strive to prevent funds from being wasted and contribute to increasing city revenue by simultaneously managing cash other than revenues and expenditures and operating funds.

This year, the city strengthened its comprehensive management plan for public property such as land and buildings to systematically manage city property.
