Within the Association of Blood Donors of the Pays de LocminéMarcel Kerguen, Dani Le Ray and Yves Robin are pillars. The first donated blood for the first time in Rohan in 1961, when he was 19 years old.

At the age of 36, Marcel, now 82, a former painter, joined the Locminé association, created in March 1965, on the initiative of Louis Guérin, head of the Locminé fire brigade. Marcel takes on the role of steward for the organization of blood drives. “We all saw him behind the bar or the counter, distributing food to donors, in a good mood,” notes Serge Le Net, member of the Amicale office.

Marcel is responsible for purchasing and “he has always favored local commerce. » Marcel’s investment, his work in the association and his donations have already been recognized in 2011, when he was decorated with the Knight’s Cross of Blood Merit.

“Marcel absolutely wanted to have 100 donations to his credit,” says Christian Le Clainche, president of the Departmental Blood Donor Union. As he could not reach them in Locminé, he also came to Moréac, where another association, which I chaired, organized the collections. »

“We tell ourselves that at some point, we all need it”

Dani Le Ray, 71, a former trader, took the torch from his father, Jean Le Ray, who was treasurer. He took charge of this function in 1978. “In February 1978, the association had the equivalent of €584.17 in the bank,” reveals Serge Le Net. On December 31, 2023, there were €2,248.06 in our coffers. But we also experienced difficult times. In 1988, the president at the time, Christian Bollot, had to advance money to pay the bills. In 1989, Dani did it. »

Dani donated blood from 1978 to 2017.

Dani Le Ray

Yves Robin, 80 years old, did his first when he was in the army. “I then continued to Locminé and, one thing led to another, I joined the association,” explains Yves. He even became president in 1995, after a dramatic episode.

That year, in June, Lionel Trollet, the president of the association, on his return from the Blood Donor Congress in Paris, died in a road accident, with his wife and with his counterpart from Auray and his female. “At that time, I was an active member of the association, I accepted the role of president, even if I was still in professional activity,” says Yves. The latter remembers how volunteers filled out blood donor forms, before the computerization of the data. “Before each collection,” says Yves, “we went to town halls to collect the names of young people who were becoming adults, in order to encourage them to donate blood. »

A citizen act

The volunteers also note the change caused by Covid, in making appointments on the internet. “Donating blood is considered a citizen actsupports Christian Le Clainche. Thus, the only activity that continued during confinement was the blood drive. »

Marcel, who was unable to be present at this ceremony for personal reasons, just like Dani, received the blood donation recognition medal, with diploma. Yves, who handed over this year to Robert Le Rebeller, was elevated to the rank of Blood Merit Officer by the National Blood Donor Federation. The investment of these three volunteers therefore does not go unnoticed.

Namely. Blood drive, Monday, December 2, Léon Le Tutour room, Plumelin, from 2:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.
