Recalling her introduction to Ireland, Eden fondly remembers a chance meeting with Ken in a Manhattan Chinese restaurant, culminating in a courageous invitation that blossomed into a lifelong love story.
Navigating the World of Mental Health: From Therapist to Author
Eden’s experience as a psychotherapist profoundly influenced her writing. Her keen understanding of

"It could be emotionally demanding and stressful," Eden reflects, "But it was very fulfilling and wonderful to see people improve."
The transition from therapist to novelist required a leap of faith. While Ireland demanded different qualifications for practicing psychotherapy, Eden saw this as an opportunity to delve into her creative side. Landing a part-time position as an
assistant lecturer and tutor in social work at University College Cork provided stability while she nurtured her writing aspirations.
"My writing ‘came flooding back’," Eden says, describing the natural progression from poetry to novels. “I felt this impulse to write a novel. The plot and characters landed in my head and I was off to the races!”

Dead Late thrusts readers into a heart-pounding thriller set against the captivating backdrop of Cork. American psychotherapist Neve Keane and Irish doctor Cornelius O’Brien find their romantic getaway interrupted by a desperate plea: to help the
(fictional) President’s goddaughter, struggling with a perplexing medical/psychological issue.
As Neve and Cornelius delve deeper, they plunge into a clandestine world, confronting terrifying consequences and moral dilemmas. Cornelius faces a heartbreaking choice- violate the Hippocratic Oath or risk Neve’s life.
Neve must decide between honoring
her promise to Cornelius and protecting a vulnerable young woman from imminent danger.
"It’s basically a thriller, [but] there are moments of humor interspersed with romance,” Eden explains, highlighting the multifaceted nature of her novel.
The novel is
richly textured with detail, nodding to Cork’s iconic landmarks like Shandon Bells and Patrick Street, even featuring a fictionalized version of the luxurious Hayfield Manor hotel.
A Tribute to Her Beloved Companion
Adding a poignant touch,
Eden immortalizes her late dog, Polo, within the pages of Dead Late. Polo, a constant companion during the writing process, is lovingly remembered through a fictional canine character.
Raising Awareness and Providing Support
Eden’s personal journey with ADHD informs her work deeply. Diagnosed later in life, her struggles with brain fog, organization, and motivation are woven into her characters and stories, raising awareness and reducing stigma around the condition.
"I became very good at masking [ADHD], appearing normal, managing the symptoms without too much of a fuss," Eden shares candidly.
A portion of the proceeds from Dead Late will be donated to the Homeless Animal Rescue Team, near Doneraile, reflecting Eden’s compassion and commitment to animal welfare.
