Mart Hoogkamer looks back on beer shower: ‘We had to go in a different way’

Mart immediately said that he ‘understood that’. After that incident, the singer became very insecure, he said in Eva. “You’re getting so insecure I don’t know what,” Mart admitted. “If first everyone sings to all your songs and then you’re drowned and hit with Flügel bottles, you think: I don’t want it anymore.” During that time, the singer performed four hundred times a year: “You enjoy 375 shows, and things go wrong at 25 shows. And you keep thinking back to those last shows.”

That time led to a burnout. “I also did shows at times when I was tired, exhausted, empty,” said the singer. “And people in my family thought I was on drugs, which was not true.” Then the singer moved art down and went to therapy. “I had therapy three times a week for four or five months, and I came out stronger,” Mart said.

The singer is going to be a father soon. The baby is expected in two months. “That gives me even more strength,” says Mart. “They just understand it. Being a father is the best thing that has happened to me so far.”
