Volkswagen has listened to the opinions of customers, so the next electric cars of the brand will be different in design, but you will see buttons next to touch screens.
The German car manufacturer Volkswagen, which is currently not experiencing the best of times and falling in sales, will try to improve the situation, among other things, by offering a breath of fresh air in the design and interior of its models.
As Kaj Grinitz, the head of Volkswagen’s development department, told Autoexpress, the next ID.3 and ID.4 will use “a completely different design language”, offering a simpler but tougher profile instead of rounded silhouettes.
The manager has revealed that the internal approach will also change and that the touch surfaces, which many are already tired of, will be replaced by traditional control devices. These could be physical buttons that provide access to frequently used functions, which many find inconvenient, time consuming and distracting to locate on a multimedia system touch screen.
The first model where these innovations can be evaluated is expected to arrive at the end of 2025 and is the ID.2All.
The new ID.3 and ID.4, which we expect in 2026, promise to increase performance and reduce the cost of the traction battery, thus reducing the final price of the product itself and making them more attractive in the eyes of customers.
Although this is still a work in progress for the next few years, Volkswagen has to think about how to reduce costs already today, which is why it has sold a factory in China and plans to to close two factories in Germany as well.
