The farewell 14 months ago, now the good news for Como: Villa Olmo will have its symbolic tree back

In all likelihood, the second large elm tree in the parterre of Villa Olmo will also return, giving the historic compendium its more classic profile. As is known, in fact, one of the two elm trees, to be precise the one towards the Lido, was cut down in September 2023 because it was now irreversibly ill (below the photos by Gianni Canova taken at the time).

That that tree and other plants cut or fallen due to bad weather over the years can now stand tall again can be deduced from a resolution approved by the council of the Municipality of Como. In fact, the document states that “the planting of new trees is necessary in order to restore the arboreal and landscape structure of the original design of the Villa Olmo Park”.

Naturally, to identify the compensatory interventions, for the methods of execution and for the control and assistance during the execution of the contract, the competence of an Agronomist is “necessary and essential”, who has been chosen outside the administration. Specifically, it is Ettore Piero Frigerio, a professional from Erba, charged for a sum close to 4 thousand euros.
