Books – Hassan Morsi:
Engineer Walid Ramadan, Vice President of the Department of Communication and Travel at the Chamber of Commerce, confirmed that there has not yet been any increase in the prices of prepaid cards.
In a telephone interview on the program “Kol Al Zawiya”, which was broadcast on the “ON” channel, he explained that what was proposed was only a proposal from the companies, since the -National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority first permission to examine the submitted applications. by the companies, with the final decision determined after examining the operating and physical costs.
Ramadan pointed out that the national group is responsible in its analysis of several factors, including the operating costs that companies have due to economic changes.
He explained that foreign companies face challenges in converting their profits from the local currency to the dollar or other currencies, which has led to a decline in their profits.
He also pointed to the increase in the cost of importing towers and station equipment due to the increase in hard currency prices, and the increase in the cost of operating stations using diesel due to the increase in petroleum prices.
Ramadan confirmed that the recharge cards have not seen any change in price, meaning that the £100 recharge card will remain at the same price, but there may be a change in the value of the services provided , since users could see a reduction in the size of the package provided at the same price, such as reducing the number of gigabytes of Internet or reducing the number of call minutes.
He explained that companies bear part of the additional costs since the value-added tax was implemented in 2017, but at the moment this tax is charged to the citizen within the price the card.
Ramadan said that he does not think that the current time is the most appropriate time for companies to ask for an increase in the prices of their services, given the current economic conditions and the impact ‘ have on citizens, emphasizing the need to pay attention to the ability of users. to avoid any possible price increases.
