Hello everyone,
We have a family car, of which my wife is the owner and I am the VN, with SF class 18. The car is currently a bit messy and due to its age, two workshops say that our car is no longer economically repairable (suspected turbo damage) .
We spoke to my mother and could also use her vehicle due to the proximity. When I was looking through her insurance documents, I noticed that despite SF30, she has a fairly high annual premium due to her age.
We then agreed that I would insure her vehicle and take over her damage-free years and at the same time include us as drivers in the contract. My mother’s car is insured with another insurance company.
Back to our car: Workshop 3 says they can repair the car, but based on our description they are convinced that there is only damage to one of the boost pressure hoses. This is not final yet.
My question: If our car can be repaired, we would continue to drive our car and I would like to maintain the better insurance conditions for my mother because we use her car as a second vehicle from time to time anyway.
As I said, I am neither the owner of our family car nor my mother’s car, but rather the policy holder for two cars. Do I have to inform the other insurance company about the second insurance relationship and would this result in one of the cars being classified differently?
Thanks in advance for your answers and best regards
