WEC and Le Mans 2025 with Alpine

Mick Schumacher’s future has finally been clarified: the 25-year-old will also compete for Alpine in the WEC in 2025. This season he made his debut with the French factory team in the World Endurance Championship and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Schumacher’s teammates for 2025 have now also been determined: The Austrian Ferdinand Habsburg is staying at Alpine, as are Charles Milesi, Paul-Loup Chatin and Jules Gounon, who is expected to move up from replacement to regular driver. New on board is Frenchman Frederic Makowiecki, who left the Porsche factory team at the end of the season. Nicolas Lapierre, who has moved to the command post as sports director, and Matthieu Vaxiviere are no longer part of the squad. The distribution of drivers between the two cars is not yet known.

Mick Schumacher: “I’m really looking forward to my second season”

Schumacher, along with his departing teammates Lapierre and Vaxiviere, gave Alpine its greatest success at its WEC debut this year: the trio took third place on the podium at the 6-hour race in Fuji. However, looking at points over the season, the sister car driven by Habsburg, who was injured in the meantime, was more successful. Alpine, with its two A424s built according to the LMDh regulations, surprisingly proved to be the fourth force in the WEC behind Porsche, Toyota and Ferrari.

Schumacher says: “I’m thrilled to continue to be part of the Alpine Endurance adventure. We’ve had a great first year together and I’m committed to helping the program’s performance be even better in year two. We have “We’ve defined a few points that we want to attack. So I’m really looking forward to my second endurance season.”

Alpine Motorsport Director Bruno Famin on the WEC squad for 2025: “We know Charles Milesi, Paul-Loup Chatin, Ferdinand Habsburg and Mick Schumacher well, all of whom are fully committed to the project. Our replacement driver Jules Gounon will be following his preparation for this As for Frederic Makowiecki, his experience and feedback will be valuable strengths to advance our progress. United by a common goal: to improve the team and the A424 as much as possible.”

Schumacher finished his debut season in the WEC in tied 22nd place in the drivers’ standings. After a difficult start, the knot broke in the first race after the technical double failure in Le Mans: In Sao Paulo, Schumacher/Lapierre/Vaxiviere achieved their first points with tenth place. In the following races in Austin (P9), Fuji (P3) and the season finale in Bahrain (P9), the Alpine with starting number #36 always reached the top 10. Along with the Frenchman Charles Milesi, Schumacher was always one of the fastest of the seven Alpine drivers.
