He wandered aimlessly around the city center with a backpack on his shoulder, in the early hours of the morning and in a suspicious manner. A young man, just 21 years old, but already with several criminal records and therefore known to the police.
Elements that pushed the Carabinieri of the Operational and Radiomobile Unit of Campobasso to carry out an inspection. An intuition that turned out to be ‘winning’: inside the backpack the police found tools that could be used for break-ins and two credit cards that had been – shortly before – used for purchases at a tobacco vending machine. The subsequent activities made it possible to identify the location of the theft, to trace the owner of the cards from whom they had been stolen and to find, at the domicile of the arrested person, further material presumably resulting from other crimes against property and on which investigative investigations underway. The young man was arrested on charges of improper use of payment cards and receiving stolen goods and was taken to the barracks for further investigation. At the end of the formalities he was subjected to the house arrest regime at the disposal of the competent judicial authority.
The activity is part of the daily and continuous prevention and contrast actions with respect to reports of thefts and reports of predatory crimes in the last period and for which the Carabinieri have intensified controls in the area in order to guarantee and raise the standards of urban security.
