Charles Leclerc recognizes that this weekend, at the Qatar Grand Prix, Ferrari will have difficulty regaining points from McLaren.
The Losail circuit is hosting the penultimate round of the Formula 1 World Championship this weekend. If the drivers’ title has already been awarded to Max Verstappen, everything is still possible for the constructors’ title. Indeed, McLaren is only 24 points ahead of Ferrari and 53 over Red Bull. If we include the sprint race and the two Grands Prix to be contested before the end of the season, there are still a maximum of 97 points up for grabs.
Scuderia Ferrari seems to be the team in the best shape at the end of the 2024 season and they could well win a title they have been desperately waiting for for 16 years. However, Charles Leclerc is not very optimistic as the Qatar Grand Prix approaches.
“The battle will last until the end ”, declared the Monegasque pilot. “I think they will be very strong in Qatar. We must have a good weekend.”
The very nature of the circuit is, according to Charles Leclerc, more profitable for the McLaren than for the Ferrari.
“I would be very surprised if we got points back from them, but we have to do it, so we will do our best. But I expect it to be tricky.”

Carlos Sainz is also skeptical
Charles Leclerc’s teammate, Carlos Sainz, shares the same view and even thinks that the Reds risk dropping to third place this weekend.
“In Qatar the maximum could be a P5 or a P6 because with this car at a circuit like Qatar I expect to struggle and I expect McLaren and Mercedes to be very strong ”, he said.
“I expect McLaren and Mercedes to be very strong. Probably even Red Bull, given how strong they were in qualifying in Austin. I think it will be a very difficult weekend for us”, concluded the Spanish pilot.
Last season, Charles Leclerc finished the race in fifth position while his teammate retired due to a fuel leak.
