“ESTHUA: 40 years of Human Adventure” tells the story of an extraordinary institute, which in just a few decades has become the leading European, even global, center for training and research in tourism. From around twenty students in 1982 to more than 3,500 in 2024, its journey reflects tremendous energy, a real key to its success. ESTHUA is a human adventure, born in Angers and which will then spread to the Pays de la Loire region (Saumur, Cholet, Les Sables d’Olonne) while establishing cooperative partnerships throughout the world, where the know-how French in tourism training is recognized.

Discover, over time and pages, the beautiful history of ESTHUA addressed around 8 major themes: professionalization, growth, relations with territories, internationalization, research, creativity, student life and alumni and the future. During these 183 pages, you will travel in time but also around the world, you will discover behind the scenes of the institute, its evolution, its projects and what constitutes its daily life.
This work, collective and collaborative, could not have been produced without the participation of the 190 contributors – staff, students and alumni, partners – who were able to respond to be interviewed or to write their text.
