The Sejm quickly accepted the government’s proposal to further freeze electricity prices. The draft bill of the Ministry of Climate assumes, as it is now, and from January 2025, that the price of electricity for homes will not exceed the maximum, ie PLN 500 per MWh net. 412 MPs voted for this solution. 3 MPs were against and 14 MPs abstained. What exactly was included in the adopted rules?
The price of electricity will be frozen at PLN 500 per MWh, the same as this year. The Ministry of Climate estimates that no frost would mean a 27% increase in electricity prices. As a result of the extension of this coverage, we will pay PLN 0.50 per kWh net for electricity, ie including VAT and excise duty, approximately PLN 0.62 per kWh. The price freeze will apply to households and only in the period between January and September 2025. Next year, the government will decide whether the frozen rate will apply throughout the year. Among others companies and housing associations must pay for electricity at market rates.

Changes in the cost of capacity. Relief only for half a year
The Act provides for changes in the capacity charge. This year it was reduced to zero, but this relief is only valid until December 31 this year. The Parliament decided that the zero rate would apply between January and June 2025. If it weren’t for this decision, bills would be up to PLN 14.9 net per month.
