Lawyers for the president-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, asked the New York attorney general void, “for the good of the country”the fine of nearly 454 million dollars imposed on the magnate and several of his relatives for financial fraud.
“We write to ask that you completely dismiss the case (…) against President Donald J. Trump, his family and his companies, and that you stipulate annul the judgment and dismiss all claims” against him, reads the letter addressed to Letitia James, equivalent to Minister of Justice of the state of New York, by her lawyer John Sauer, and published by the local press.
Trump and his family were sentenced in mid-February to pay a $454 million fine after being found guilty of financial fraud through his business empire, the Trump Organization.
Both the now president-elect and his sons Donald Jr. and Eric Trump appealed the ruling of this sentence.
His lawyer, who has been rewarded by Trump with the position of government representative before the Supreme Court, evokes the “historic victory” in the presidential elections of November 5 and the need to end the polarization of the country.

“This case deserves the same treatment,” Sauer wrote.
The Republican magnate has repeated that he is the victim of “a witch hunt” by “the Democratic clique.”
