The pain continues: Parliament was left without a president for the sixth time – 2024-11-27 12:16:00

The sixth attempt to elect the Speaker of the National Assembly also ended in failure. Raya Nazaryan from GERB-SDS and Silvi Kirilov from “There is such a people” once again reached the runoff. However, neither of them managed to get enough votes of support.

Thus, the first session of the parliament will last a record long time – today was the 18th day.

From the parliamentary rostrum GERB-SDS reaffirmed the candidacy of Raya Nazaryan for chairman. Petar Petrov was promoted again by “Vazrazhdane”. Nataliya Kiselova was nominated by “BSP – United Left”. ITN nominated Silvi Kirilov.

The four applications were voted on in alphabetical order. Out of a total of 238 people’s representatives in the hall, Natalia Kiselova supported 50, 113 were against, and 75 abstained. Petar Petrov was supported by 46 people’s representatives out of a total of 238 voters. 128 were against and 64 abstained. 69 MPs out of a total of 238 supported Raya Nazaryan’s candidacy. 164 were against and 5 abstained. Silvi Kirilov was supported by 66 deputies, 115 voted against, and 57 abstained.

Thus, Raya Nazaryan and Silvi Kirilov went to the runoff. After the announcement of the result, the chairman of the meeting gave a 60-minute break.

After the resumption of the session, Kirilov gave another 30-minute break.

At the runoff, 69 deputies supported the nomination of GERB-SDS, 147 were against, and 4 abstained. Kirilov was supported by 100 people’s representatives. 100 deputies voted against his candidacy, and 17 abstained. The nomination of ITN was re-voted. Then Kirilov received the vote 100 “for”, 101 “against”, and 16 abstained.
