Inosis (CEO Joo-mi Jeong), a company specializing in orthopedic implant research and manufacturing, officially launched its cervical spine surgery cage, ‘UniSpace® Stand-Alone C Cage (UniSpace)’ in the U.S. last September. Prior to this, it was announced on the 28th that it received an excellent evaluation in an evaluation conducted among local medical staff.
Unispace was the first domestic company to obtain approval from the U.S. FDA last April, and was applied to herniated disc patients in the U.S. for the first time in September.
In order to gauge reactions and evaluations of the product prior to full launch, the product was provided to some medical staff in advance to provide an opportunity to apply it to surgery.
Until recently, a total of five U.S. doctors had used Unispace for 17 spine surgeries, including Dr. Terrence T. Crowder of Arizona Spine and Joint Hospital, who performed the surgery in September. was applied.
All five doctors responded generally positively.
Dr. Bonaventure Ngu of TOPS Surgical Specialty Hospital expressed satisfaction, saying, “The inserter and screws are very easy to use and are the best products I have ever used.”
“Unispace performs well and is significantly superior to conventional polyetheretherketone (PEEK) materials in terms of insertion and operation,” said Pradeep K. Narotam, M.D., HCA Florida Largo Hospital. “He commented.
In addition, comments such as “I was able to insert the implant easily without any problems” and “I am satisfied with the instrument set with various options” continued.
Unispace is a structure that replaces the height and angle of the disc by removing it and inserting it in its place to treat degenerative spinal diseases.
By applying titanium 3D printing technology, a dual pore structure similar to the structure of human cancellous bone has been implemented, and it can be produced in a total of 107 different specifications, allowing the product to be tailored to the patient’s condition.
Unispace is designed as an independent structure in which the cage and the screws that secure it are combined into one, so there is no need to insert a separate cervical plate.
This not only shortens the surgery time and minimizes the incision area, helping the patient recover quickly, but also improves the convenience of the medical staff.
In addition, safety is enhanced by applying a double locking structure to prevent the screw from falling out of the body.
Innosis plans to actively reflect the opinions of medical staff to improve some of the product’s functions and design, thereby further improving usability.
Based on these improvements, we plan to strengthen our competitiveness by entering the US market in earnest.
Joo-mi Jeong, CEO of Innosys, said, “Innosys is doing its best to become the top choice for U.S. medical staff by actively reflecting the opinions of users. Based on this, we have implemented an aggressive marketing strategy to leverage Unispace’s excellent performance and convenient usability. “We plan to solidify our position in the market.”
