Toni Kroos: Prestige “Golden Player” award for the ex-DFB star | football

Toni Kroos (34) has already ended his active career – he still gets a prize.

The former national player (114 international matches) is a “Golden Player”, an award given once a year by “Tuttosport”. The Italian sports daily explains: “He ended his career at the top, having won everything.”

In the last season of his career, Kroos won Real Madrid the Champions League, the Spanish championship and the cup.

Kroos follows Erling Haaland (24), who won the prize last year. Karim Benzema (36/Al-Ittihad) and Robert Lewandowski (37/FC Barcelona) have also been awarded the “Golden Player” in the past.

A main focus of the award ceremony is always the title for the “Golden Boy”, the best player under the age of 21. This year this title goes to Lamine Yamal (17/FC Barcelona).

Former Real star Kroos ended his career in the summer. The European Championship quarter-final against Spain (1:2 after extra time) was the last appearance of the midfield strategist, who played a total of six times in his career Champions League won.

At the beginning of November, Kroos received a Bambi (well-known German media and television award) in the sports category. The laudatory speech was given by pop icon Robbie Williams (50/president of English fourth division club Port Vale).

Williams said: “The way Toni played was magic, it was art.”
