The National Police have arrested a woman in Albacete as allegedly responsible for an attempted scam after she reported a completely false fact with the intention of receiving compensation from her insurance company. The investigation of the events by the National Police began when the woman went to the Police Station to report that a fraudulent charge of 1,001 euros had been made to her card.
The first investigations focused on what a priori appeared to be a scam and revealed that the charges had been made in a pawn shop. When contacting the establishment, they confirmed that said charge corresponded to a performance operation that a client had carried out days ago to recover some jewelry that she had previously pawned, and that turned out to be the complainant herself. Furthermore, it was found that once the fraudulent acts were reported, the complainant herself contacted her bank and, using the complaint to give more strength to the deception, tried to obtain compensation from the bank card insurance.
Thus, it was proven that the complainant was untruthful to the Police by reporting a non-existent crime and that she attempted to defraud the insurance company by informing her bank of an alleged fraud, also supporting her criminal intention with the police report, which caused the proceeded to arrest him as responsible for the crime of insurance fraud and false reporting.
