CD Projekt is sticking to the cyberpunk live-action project – is in the planning phase

CD Projekt is working on the further development of its successful brands Cyberpunk and The Witcher. While the announced live-action cyberpunk project remains in the conceptual phase, initial progress has been made. At the same time, the studio is pushing forward the production of a new animation project in the cyberpunk universe as well as the development of The Witcher 4.

The cyberpunk universe continues to grow

The live-action cyberpunk project, announced in October 2023, remains in the planning stages. It is still unclear whether this will be a film, a TV series or another format. However, during a Q&A session as part of its quarterly financial results, CD Projekt provided a progress update. According to CEO Michał Nowakowski, the concept has made progress, but is not yet mature enough to present to potential partners such as streaming services or film studios.

“The conceptual phase has different stages of progress. We are definitely further along than a year ago, but not yet at the point where we could present the concept,” explained Nowakowski. He estimates it will take about another year before the project is ready for potential partners. The collaboration with the media company Anonymous Content indicates an ambitious implementation, which further increases the anticipation for the project.

At the same time, CD Projekt is working on another cyberpunk animation that will appear exclusively on Netflix. Building on the success of the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners series, this project underscores the studio’s goal to expand the brand across multiple media. Fans can look forward to another story from the dark sci-fi world.

Important advances in the Witcher universe

There is also significant news in The Witcher. The fourth part of the fantasy series has reached the full production phase. Fans can look forward to another part of the popular fantasy series.

With these projects, CD Projekt shows its commitment to further expanding its franchises. The combination of a new animated series, a live-action adaptation and the sequel to The Witcher makes it clear that the studio wants to expand its franchises. The coming years should be extremely exciting for fans of both Cyberpunk and The Witcher.
