Coup failure in Peru made Bolsonaro retreat in Brazil

According to the site, such an evaluation emerged from Lieutenant Colonel Sergio Cavaliere, of the Army and one of the 37 accused of the coup attempt two years ago.

According to the Federal Police (PF), this is also the assessment of a kind of Nucleus of Disinformation and Attacks on the Electoral System.

«And the president (Bolsonaro) is not going to board alone because the same thing as in Peru could happen. He is ready to sign it and then no one is going to go to prison. Then he will not risk (…)”, Cavaliere stated, the PF alludes, in an audio recording on December 20, 2022.

Castillo was removed from office and arrested after a foiled plot attempt by announcing that he would close Congress in Lima.

The PF investigation assures, on the same occasion, that Cavaliere responded to Colonel Gustavo Gomes: “nothing is going to happen” after asking if there was “something new on the front.”

He lamented that the Army’s high command did not adhere to the coup and the Navy accepted, but would need the participation of another force, since “it cannot withstand the beating it is going to take alone.”

Cavaliere still attacked members of the high command. “Our leaders, trained in that school of prostitutes, why choose one side, their personal side, to the detriment of the people.”

Bolsonaro denied the PF text. According to the far-right politician, the word coup was never in the dictionary.

«We are going to get this story out of our heads at once, no one is going to carry out a coup with reserve generals and more than half a dozen officers. What they are saying is absurd. For my part, there was never a sudden discussion,” he certified.

He argued that a “coup d’état has to have the participation of all the Armed Forces, if it is not a coup d’état.” “Nobody carries out a coup d’état on a Sunday, in Brasilia…”, he said.

The police document accuses Bolsonaro and 36 other people of crimes of violent abolition of the Democratic State of Law, coup d’état and criminal organization.

The Attorney General’s Office received the final report of the PF from the Supreme Federal Court (STF) and could now file the case, file charges or request further investigations.

If a complaint arises, Minister Alexander de Moraes, of the STF, may accept the accusation and there will be criminal action.
