After years on the run, it is a relief for patients who describe this Lyon dentist as a real “pervert”: “He took pleasure in seeing me drooling over myself while talking about my summer vacation in La Rochelle, you could see it in his eyes”testifies Michèle, one of the practitioner’s victims.
“The practitioner totally violated the Code of Ethics for Dentists, which requires asking questions to which patients can respond by nodding or grunting”specifies the plaintiffs’ lawyer. Questioned by the authorities, the health professional first denied the facts, before revealing a particularly sordid modus operandi. After an initial phase of building confidence, he waited until his patients were in a state of perfect vulnerability to question them about their grandchildren, their work or the health of their spouse.
“Of course I don’t care if they still hike in the Luberon or how the youngest’s dance gala went. But it was stronger than me, I was obliged to start the discussion, especially with those who stared straight at me, their gaze full of distress. I’m not a monster, you know!”asserts the dentist before bursting into tears.
According to the plaintiffs, the practitioner also particularly liked to direct his small lamp in such a way as to blind them like rabbits caught in headlights. “Nothing was spared the victims: we are dealing with a real case of sadism, as we unfortunately see too often among dentists”, comments the defense lawyer.
A case which is in fact far from isolated: in Épernay, a dentist suspected of watching his patients rinse their mouths after a triple anesthesia is still actively sought.
