In his statement, as reported AFPOn Wednesday (27/11/2024), Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, revealed that it had indicated that it was ready to mediate a ceasefire agreement.
“We have told mediators in Egypt, Qatar and Turkey that Hamas is ready for a cease-fire agreementand a real agreement for the exchange of prisoners,” an unnamed senior Hamas official said speaking to AFP.

The officers from United States (The US) and Israel have expressed hope that, as a cease-fire in Lebanon develops, the loss of Hezbollah’s military support will help encourage Hamas to sue for peace.
Hamas has long called for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, but according to Tel Aviv, the group is reluctant to meet Israel’s demands for the release of hostages.
At the same time, according to international mediators, Israel’s reluctance to withdraw its troops from the Gaza Strip is also an obstacle in negotiations. The mediators said that both parties were responsible for the deadlock that occurred.
