The purchase price was initially set at less than two billion dollars. However, the Czech group has been raised several times since then, as other companies are interested in Kinetic Group, especially the Canadian investment company MNC Capital. She wanted to take over the entire Vista Outdoor company for more than three billion dollars. However, Vista’s shareholders ultimately rejected this offer after a month-long prepayment duel between CSG and MNC.
Ohio state senator and future US vice president JD Vance strongly opposed the sale of Kinetic Group to a Czech holding in the past. The latter accuses Strnad of having close ties with Russia and that the transaction thus represents a real security threat to the United States. Strnad’s group has repeatedly disputed the allegations, calling Vance’s claims “baseless and untrue.”
Vance and Strnad even exchanged open letters this spring. In his speech, the Czech billionaire argued for broad support for Ukraine and opposed what Vance was referring to his company’s connection to the Putin regime. In addition, he said that the companies under CSG also provide US military, and in the end they invited Vance to visit his companies.
The American politician was more specific in his answer. Unconvinced by Strnad’s arguments, he asked CSG to reveal himself fully to the US authorities. Former CIA chief and Secretary of State from Donald Trump’s first administration, Mike Pompeo, stood by Vance.
In any case, Vista shareholders postponed the decision to sell the arms division to Strath several times this year, and at one point it looked like nothing would come of the big business.
However, it seems that both sides managed to find common ground in the end. Strnad’s group should explain how they managed to solve the frozen situation in the coming days. It is not clear at the moment whether the incoming administration of President Donald Trump can have a say in the construction.
CSG is a global holding company. Its main production facilities are in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Italy, India, Great Britain and the United States. It is aimed at the engineering, automotive, aviation or defense industries. More than ten thousand people work in companies included in CSG.
Last year, the sales investment increased by 71 percent to more than 42 billion crowns, and the net profit rose by 49 percent to almost 5.2 billion crowns.
Vista Outdoor is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of small arms and is the largest supplier of ammunition to the civilian market as well as police and security forces in the US. It is based in Anoka, Minnesota and employs a total of 5,800 people.
