The UK government has extended visas for Ukrainian refugees who have been in the country since February 24, 2022 for another 18 months.
This is stated in information about changes to some immigration rules, published on Tuesday on the UK government website.
To extend a visa, Ukrainians need to submit an application; the extension will not be automatic. Applications will open on February 4, 2025.
You must apply for a visa extension 28 days before its expiration. You can only apply for a visa extension in the UK. During the application review period (8 weeks), you are not allowed to travel abroad. But all this time, legal status and all rights are maintained.
Please note that time spent in the UK under this scheme does not count towards the 10-year period for applying for permanent residence.
Let us remind you that Germany wants to review payments to Ukrainian refugees. In our infographic you can see how much money European countries spent to help Ukrainian refugees.
