The film aims to tell, preserve and pass on to future generations the work of the Bulgarian professor, who created the modern appearance and treatment of modern cardiac surgery, and built the most famous specialized hospital – “St. Ekaterina”. A Bulgarian who has something magnetic and charismatic about him.
Having lived, worked and made a name for himself in the best hospitals in Germany, Great Britain and the USA, Prof. Chirkov is a patriot who dreams of creating a world-class cardiac surgery clinic in Bulgaria. The construction of St. Catherine’s Hospital does not cost the Bulgarian taxpayer a single lev. Sam has funded his students by sending them abroad to study foreign practices in the field of cardiac surgery and related specialties. He introduced the most modern methods in medicine in the country and created a galaxy of Bulgarian cardiac surgeons, interventional cardiologists, specialized resuscitation nurses, carrying out a very effective transfer of “know-how” from the world leaders of this activity. He managed to change medicine in our country, changed human destinies, saved thousands of patients, changed the thinking of doctors and his students and created a series of initiatives that are a routine practice even after him. Performs the first heart transplant in all of Eastern Europe. Prof. Chirkov worked for Bulgaria until his last breath and wanted to create a hospital in the city of Varna. He is a true wake-up call and visionary in the field of medicine.
The premiere in Sofia, which took place on November 7 at the Lumiere cinema, was attended by many guests from the medical world, professors and doctors, official guests from Germany, his daughter Dr. Tatyana Chirkova, his son Alessandro Chirkov, representatives from the Medical University , hospital St. Ekaterina and Achibadem City Clinic. After the end of the film, which moved all viewers, colleagues and patients of Prof. Chirkov, and his son Alessandro Chirkov shared fond memories of his father.
