Community Mourns the Passing of Tom O’Connor, Beloved Local Figure
In a heartfelt farewell, the Listowel community is mourning the loss of Thomas (Tom) O’Connor, who peacefully passed away on November 24th, 2024, at his home surrounded by family. Tom O’Connor, originally from Ballygologue Park in Listowel and formerly of Michael O’Connor’s Public House on Patrick Street, was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Mary, and his brothers, Michael and Eamon, along with his infant grandchildren, Orla and Declan. Despite the grief of losing loved ones, Tom fostered a life rich in family ties and community bonds.
Tom is lovingly remembered by his three children: sons Michael and Thomas, and daughter Elaine. The community will have the opportunity to pay their respects to Tom O’Connor as his body lies in repose at Lyons Funeral Home in Derry on Tuesday evening, November 26th, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Following the wake, a funeral mass will be held at St. Mary’s Church in Listowel. The mass is scheduled for Wednesday, November 27th, at 11:30 AM and will be live-streamed for those unable to attend in person. Tom’s final resting place will be in St. John Paul II Cemetery on Ballybunion Road, Listowel.
In keeping with the family’s wishes, they request no flowers, but donations may be made in Tom’s memory to Palliative Care through the Kerry Hospice website at www.kerryhospice.com.
