The film “Slāpes” is the second film work of director and screenwriter Ronald Mežmačs. Last year, his film “Breathing under water” won “Great Kristaps” as the best debut film.

“I’ve wanted to make a movie about motorcycles for a long time. I didn’t want just something crying when people hit, and just speeding tires and screaming; I wanted a deeper feeling and more themes give depth to the story,” said the director.

At the center of the story is a married couple – a motorcycle enthusiast and a supporter of the philosophy of sustainability. They are played by National Theater actors Kaspars and Ieva Aniņi. The wife is very sick, and the husband is ready to do anything to save her.

“The director of the film, Ronalds, said that he saw similarities between me and the hero of the film – as he imagined – I would say that we are very different,” says the actor Kaspars Aniņš, who played the main role. , adding: “I had to work on the character’s thinking, to understand how this person reacts or maybe they don’t react. Yes time We had a discussion during the rehearsal process where we respected that end result.”

It was the main idea we tried to put these two characters in relationships – that people can go through a lot of problems, suffer, even get closer, but then in reality there is a fall. .”

“It’s very difficult to structure something right after the screening, but I thought it was an interesting piece of cinema,” says Uldis Jancis, the viewer of the film.

“At the moment, there is no such final decision, but it was interesting. The finish was a bit surprising,” Roland Banders evaluates.

Eddy Jaunzem admits: “I really like crime dramas. I liked that he was kidnapped there. I don’t like that there is too much music.”
