Extensive change to the DeutschlandCard: From January there will no longer be a physical version of the bonus card. Something else is changing for the company’s customers.
With the DeutschlandCard you can collect points when shopping – in more than 10,000 stationary stores such as Edeka and Netto and in more than 400 online shops. Around 20 million people use the bonus program. There is now an important change to the bonus card: From January, the DeutschlandCard will only be available on mobile phones. “The DeutschlandCard is becoming more digital. Therefore, only the digital card will be issued in the future,” says the adjusted terms and conditions.
In concrete terms, this means: The physical version in credit card format will no longer be available for new customers. The company also no longer issues replacement cards if they are lost or damaged. If you already have a DeutschlandCard, you can still show it at the checkout.
And something else will change for DeutschlandCard customers in the future: the company no longer wants to send letters. “Due to the changed communication habits, we will communicate with you primarily by email in the future,” the terms and conditions continue. The points account balance will soon only be communicated via email. The company also only wants to send its newsletter digitally.
To agree to the changes, DeutschlandCard customers do not need to do anything else. Anyone who does not cancel their customer account by the end of the year will automatically agree to the updated conditions of participation, the company writes. Otherwise, credited points can be redeemed within three months of canceling the DeutschlandCard.
Along with Payback, the DeutschlandCard is one of the best-known bonus programs in this country. In addition to supermarkets, numerous restaurants, bakeries and pharmacies also take part in the bonus program. Find out more about the advantages and disadvantages of the DeutschlandCard here.
