Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The war between Russia and Ukraine has entered its 1,005th day on Monday (25/11/2024). The attacks between the two neighboring countries continue to draw the world’s attention because of international support for Moscow.
Currently, Russia is receiving international support from the friendly country of North Korea (North Korea). This has also raised new concerns, one of them from the United States (US), which has been supporting Ukraine.
The following is the latest update on the war between Russia and Ukraine, as compiled by CNBC Indonesia from various sources.
Putin called these Arab countries to join the Russo-Ukraine War
In addition to North Koreans, it is reported that Russia is again asking foreign nationals to join its war against Ukraine. This was reported by the Financial Times (FT), Sunday (24/11/2024).
In their report, the FT said that the country is Yemen, which is currently affected by a civil war. They were promised large salaries and even Russian citizenship if they agreed to participate in the Moscow war.
“Yemeni citizens were promised high wages and Russian citizenship before traveling to Russia to be forcibly recruited into Moscow’s army and sent to the front lines in Ukraine. by Newsweek.
Before that it was known that Yemen was in a civil war between the government and the Houthi rebels, who are Shia and who are against Iran. So far, the Houthis have been successful in controlling a large area of Hadramawt.
It is not clear how close Russia is to the Houthis. However, this conflict has forced Moscow to establish relations with countries that are hostile to the United States (US) and its allies.
Ukrainian missile attack on Russian territory
Russian air defense systems destroyed seven Ukrainian missiles in the Kursk region on Sunday afternoon, Kursk region governor Alexei Smirnov said on his Telegram channel.
Meanwhile, Regional Governor Vladislav Shapsha said debris falling from the downed Ukrainian drone caught fire at an industrial facility in Kaluga, Russia. He said there were no injuries and three drones were destroyed.
On the other hand, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said on Telegram that air defenses were working in Kyiv in response to new drone attacks in Russia.
Ukraine’s air defenses have previously shot down 50 of 73 Russian drones launched at various targets, according to the Ukrainian military.
China Dizzy Due to Russia and North Korea ‘Playing Behind’
The Chinese government is reportedly increasingly concerned about the increasingly close defense cooperation between Russia and North Korea (North Korea). This was expressed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United States (US), Kurt Campbell on Sunday.
In his statement, Campbell said that Beijing was very concerned about how Pyongyang, within the framework of this cooperation, was sending its soldiers to fight with Russia in Ukraine. According to him, China is worried that this step will force North Korea to take steps that are not in line with its national interests.
“In some of the conversations we’ve had, it seems like we’re telling them things they don’t know about North Korea’s activities, and they’re concerned that Russian provocation might make North Korea consider actions or military actions that. that may not be in China’s interest,” he said.
“China has not directly criticized Russia, but we believe that increased coordination between Pyongyang and Moscow is making them uncomfortable.”
Before that, it was known that North Korea sent 10 thousand soldiers to fight against Ukraine to protect Russia. This happened after Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un signed a security agreement between the two countries.
North Korean general injured in Ukrainian missile attack
A top North Korean general was reportedly injured in a recent Ukrainian attack on Russia’s Kursk region. This was expressed by an official from a Western country as mentioned by the Wall Street Journal on Sunday.
This news is the first time that a high-ranking military officer from North Korea has become a victim of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. As is known, more than 10,000 Korean troops were deployed in Kursk while the Kremlin tried to eliminate Ukrainian troops who launched an attack there in August.
The North Korean mission to the United Nations (UN) has not yet responded to the news that the general was the victim. Pyongyang has sent a senior official, Colonel General Kim Yong Bok, to Russia to monitor North Korea’s efforts to coordinate with Russia.
Called in sick, unusual marks appear on his hands
Information about the state of health of Russian President Vladimir Putin is still being reported. The reason why the number one person in Russia is currently under a lot of attention is because of his decision to attack his neighbor, Ukraine.
On Thursday (21/11/2024), a video uploading a statement regarding Putin confirming the use of hypersonic missiles in an attack on Ukraine showed an unusual sign for the Russian President. Putin apparently sat with his hands almost motionless for over 20 minutes.
This has fueled wild speculation on the internet based on rumors circulating about his health. The Councilor of the Interior of Ukraine, Anton Gerashchenko, said that something was out of sync between his body and his head and his hands.
“If you speed up the video, you can see that Putin’s hands do not move and it seems that they are separated from his body. Sometimes his voice and lip movements do not match,” he said in X, as which was quoted by Newsweek.
Gerashchenko later said that the response from what he called ‘Russian bots and trolls’ made him think ‘there really is something there’, pointing the finger at Putin’s health.
Filmmaker Patrick Hölscher also made similar comments. According to him, there were many edits in Putin’s confirmation video that finally raised questions about what really happened to the main figure in the White Bear Country.
In October, the Kremlin issued a statement that Putin had no health problems after visiting the Central Clinical Hospital. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Putin was actually there for a regular medical check-up.
Putin previously said that he regularly receives examinations at a hospital in Moscow.
“Doctors at the Main Clinical Hospital, where I went through several routine examinations, recommended vaccination with medicines made at home,” he told health minister Mikhail Murashko.
Russia will soon appoint Alexander Darchiev, who is currently the head of the North American department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as a new ambassador in Washington, Kommersant newspaper reported.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law that allows those who sign up to fight in Ukraine to write off unpaid debts worth nearly US$100,000.
