In his “Power On” newsletter, Mark Gurman wrote that Apple’s voice assistant Siri will be more like ChatGPT.
The revamped Siri will likely debut with the unveiling of iOS 19 at WWDC 2025 in June 2025.
Siri upgrade in progress
Like Mark Gurman in his „Power On“-Newsletter reported, Apple will introduce a Siri with better language skills in iOS 19 and will be achieved via more advanced large language models. This upgrade is closer to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, allowing the voice assistant to handle more complex queries.
At its WWDC 2025 developer conference in June 2025, Apple will likely unveil the modernized Siri in connection with iOS 19.
According to Gurman’s assessment, the new Siri will not be available until spring 2026 and therefore the function could come with an iOS 19.4 update. Additional features in iOS 19.4 would be delayed until spring 2026.
ChatGPT-Integration
Meanwhile, iOS 18.2 received ChatGPT integration for Siri, and Gurman expects Google Gemini integration to come in a later update.
Apple confirmed a December 2024 release of iOS 18.2 and with iOS 18.4 Siri will receive some improvements. With the availability of the new Siri, iPhone users will no longer have to rely on third-party services such as ChatGPT and Gemini.
