Theater Osnabrück offers an imaginative trip with “Alice in Wonderland”.

With the premiere of “Alice in Wonderland” on Sunday (November 24th), the Osnabrück Theater made a magical start to the pre-Christmas season. The family piece by Jan Bodinus after the submission of Lewis Carroll thrilled the sold-out house with a colorful mix of imaginative costumes, technical sophistication and a playful ensemble. Directed by Marcelo Diaz The classic becomes a colorful stage event that thrills both children and adults.

A stage full of magic

The stage design and costumes Anja Fuhrmann take the audience into a dream world that sparkles with imagination. The journey to Wonderland begins in Cecilia’s kitchen, where Alice follows the White Rabbit into his burrow. Using video technology, Alice not only falls into a magical hole, but also shrinks, grows or even swims in a teacup through a sea of tears. This technical sophistication gives the production a special dynamic, while the changeable stage sets and oversized props – such as the caterpillar’s giant mushroom or the hatter’s enormous tea table – bring the wonderland to life.

A playful ensemble

Sonja Giesecke impresses as Alice with her natural charm and tireless curiosity Amaru Albancando as a lively white rabbit providing pace and humor. Monika Vivell shines in her triple role as Cecilia, flower queen and chess piece-like queen of hearts – a performance full of presence and playfulness. Particularly noteworthy is the changeability of Cora Kneiszwho switches back and forth between green turtle, Cheshire cat and sleeping mouse with a lot of humor and vocal precision. Emil Schwarz and Saba Baghaei complement the ensemble with equally multifaceted depictions, such as hat makers, March Hares or playing cards.

Another highlight of the production is the music by Jannis Kafkawhich atmospherically accompanies the action and creates atmosphere. The catchy songs bring momentum and feeling to the stage without overwhelming the younger people in the audience.

An experience for young and old

With “Alice in Wonderland,” the Osnabrück Theater proves that it not only masters the world of classical theater and opera, but can also score points in the area of family theater with adaptable sets and colorful productions. The imaginative implementation of the material not only invites children to marvel, but also offers adults many lovingly designed details that will put a smile on their faces. With this successful premiere, the piece will certainly be a highlight for many Osnabrück students during the Christmas season. A visit to Wonderland is worth it for the whole family!
