This Sunday, Argentine Ramiro Enrique scored the only goal Orlando City needed to beat Atlanta United 1-0 and qualify for their first Eastern Conference final in MLS.
Fourth in the East in the regular season, Orlando City, after eliminating Atlanta United (eighth), will face next Saturday and with home advantage against the New York Red Bulls (seventh), who won 0-2 on Saturday to New York City (sixth) in the other Eastern semifinal.
The team in purple, under the direction of Colombian coach Óscar Pareja, had a dangerous match against an Atlanta United team that in the first round made a splash by eliminating Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami.
But Orlando City carried out their match thanks to a goal from Enrique after a corner in the 39th minute.
From less to more this season after a hesitant start, Orlando City has a lot of Latin talent in its squad: the aforementioned Enrique and his compatriot Martín Ojeda; the Uruguayans Facundo Torres, César Araújo and Nicolás Lodeiro; the Peruvian Pedro Gallese; the Colombians Iván Angulo and Luis Muriel and the Peruvian Wilder Cartagena.
The Florida team is now just two games away from being able to lift its first MLS Cup, which would be its second trophy after the US Open Cup that it won in 2022.
