The owner of the printing house in France: The terrorists were not aggressive –

/ world today news/ The owner of the CDT printing house, which was seized on January 9 by the Quashi brothers – the assassins against the editorial office of the satirical publication “Charlie Hebdo” – Michel Catalano told Sky News details about the drama.

According to him, around 8:30 in the morning the doorbell rang, Catalano went to the entrance of the premises. Through the window he noticed a man with a Kalashnikov and a grenade launcher. He shouted to Lillian Lepper, the printer’s clerk, to hide, then opened the door.

“At that point I thought that was the end of it. But they came in and they weren’t aggressive. They said, ‘Don’t worry, we just want to come in,'” Catalano said.

The owner of the printing house spent about an hour alone with the Quashi brothers until one of the suppliers arrived. Catalano appealed to the brothers not to hang him and to let him go. The kidnappers responded positively to his request.

“We went downstairs and went to the supplier. I told him to leave and he immediately understood what the situation was,” says the owner of the printing house.

According to Catalano, he repeatedly begged his captors to let him go, and eventually they agreed. At the same time, an employee of the printing house remained hidden in a building, and the owner was very worried that the brothers might find him.

“I didn’t know where Lillian was hiding. I knew she was hiding, but I had no idea where,” Catalano said, adding that he tried to prevent the terrorists from rummaging through the premises to find the employee.

According to Catalano, the entire time he was with the Quashi brothers, he felt no fear. “I wasn’t scared, I don’t know how I managed to keep calm under these circumstances – I’ve never faced such a situation in my life. From the beginning, I didn’t believe that I would survive,” he says.

The owner of the printing shop says that the terrorists were calm and did not threaten him.

“I have to admit that they weren’t really aggressive. It may sound unbelievable, but I didn’t think they could hurt me. Maybe they had a little bit of humanity left because they let me leave,” says Catalano. / RIA Novosti
