Presentation of historic rolling stock, as well as learning to drive a tram or bus – these are some of the attractions that will await Poznań residents and tourists on Sunday (November 24) as part of the Catherine 2024 celebrations.
To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day together. Catherine – the patron saint of tram drivers and the protector of carriers – invites MPK Poznań and the Association of Rail Vehicle Lovers’ Club on Sunday. This year, events related to these celebrations will take place on Sunday, November 24, in several locations: on the premises of the former depot at ul. Madalińskiego, in the tram depot at ul. Głogowska and at Galeria Panorama. The Maltanka Park Railway will also operate. Especially on this occasion, two lines will be launched on Sunday: bus and tram. They will facilitate movement between the places where Katarzynka 2024 will take place.
According to MPK Poznań, from 12.00 to 16.00 in the former depot at ul. There will be an exhibition of modern rolling stock at Madalińskiego. You will also be able to see here historic cars from the collection of the Automobilklub Wielkopolski and models of public transport vehicles. A stand of the Rail Vehicle Enthusiasts Club will also be set up here, and in the N type tram you will be able to sit as a driver.
“Tram driving lessons will take place at the depot at ul. Głogowska 131/133. Courses under the supervision of an instructor will be conducted using Moderus Beta from 11.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. – there will be no prior registration for +lessons+, the order of registration on site will be decisive,” it was announced.
In turn, learning to drive a training bus will take place in the parking lot at Galeria Panorama, located at ul. Górecka 30 from 11.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. A presentation of historic buses will also be organized at the Panorama Gallery. You will be able to watch, among others: Ikarus 260 and 280, DAF MB200, MAN Lion’s City. You will also be able to see MPK Poznań Traffic Supervision police cars – Toyota Yaris Cross and a stylized FSO Polonez. In this location, models of vehicles made of Lego bricks made by Mateusz Wawrowski will also be presented.
On the occasion of Katarzynka, the Maltanka Park Railway is also open on the weekend. Courses will be held every hour – from 10.00 to 16.00. On the hour, the train will depart from the Maltanka station, and 30 minutes later from the Zwierzyniec station; last departure from Zwierzyniec at 16.30. The iconic “snout” wagon, i.e. the MBxc1-41 wagon from 1932, and the “cowboy wagon” – the oldest active passenger wagon in Malta, will be on the route. Both vehicles are heated.

Solemn Holy Mass for MPK Poznań employees and their families on the occasion of St. Catherine will take place on Sunday, December 1, at 3 p.m. in the church of St. Our Lady of Sorrows at ul. Głogowska 97. After the Holy Mass. The Poznań City Orchestra will perform at MPK Poznań. (PAP)
