Östersunds FK beat Lunds BK 3-2 in the second leg of the Superettan 2025 qualifier thus winning the qualifier 5-2 on aggregate. GIF Sundsvall – FC Stockholm became a surprise story where GIF Sundsvall drew the longest straw after extra time.
For Östersunds FK, the qualification match started in Skåne. There the Jämtar won with a clear 2-0 and they were in a good position before their return.
However, Lunds BK took the lead early in the second leg and thus put some pressure on Östersunds FK. However, ÖFK was able to turn the game around and although there was some drama at the end, at 2-2, there was never any danger for Östersunds FK. The final score was finally written at 3-2 in the match and 5-2 on aggregate and Östersunds FK will still play in Superettan 2025.
In the second qualifying meeting between GIF Sundsvall and FC Stockholm, the return leg was played in Sundsvall. The first meeting between the teams ended 1-0 against Giffarna away in Stockholm. In the return, however, FC Stockholm were awarded an early penalty which could have put the pressure on the home team. However, the penalty was missed.
A little later in the game, it was time again when FC Stockholm were awarded a penalty again. This time no mistakes were made and 1-0 for the Stockholmers. After a snow break in the second half, however, GIF Sundsvall would also receive a penalty. Ludvig Svanberg made no mistakes from eleven meters and 1-1 in the game. In the 89th minute, FC Stockholm scored 2-1 and the game goes to extra time.
In extra time, GIF Sundsvall made it both 2-2 and 3-2 and thus won the doubleheader with 4-2.
The results mean that Östersunds FK and GIF Sundsvall will continue to play in Superettan 2025, and that Lunds BK and FC Stockholm will continue to take new steps in Ettan Fotboll 2025.
