Garmin has announced its financial results for the third quarter of 2024, revealing a 24% increase in consolidated revenue, reaching $1.59 billion compared to the same period last year. Growth by market segments
Garmin’s revenue in the Fitness segment grew 31%, driven by strong demand for wearable devices. Gross and operating margins were 61% and 32%, respectively, generating operating income of $148 million. During the quarter, Garmin held the Garmin Health Summit, focusing on innovative digital health solutions and commemorating the 10th anniversary of Garmin Health.
The brand’s Outdoor segment recorded a 21% increase in revenue. With gross and operating margins of 68% and 40%, respectively, it achieved operating income of $209 million. Garmin launched the long-awaited fēnix 8 series, which includes high-brightness AMOLED displays, advanced features, built-in speaker, microphone and LED flashlight.
It also introduced the Enduro 3, a lightweight, high-performance GPS smartwatch designed for ultra-endurance athletes, with up to 320 hours of battery life in GPS mode and solar charging. Additionally, it introduced the inReach Messenger Plus, its first satellite communicator with voice and photo messaging, as well as SOS and location sharing functions.
Revenue in Garmin’s Automotive segment increased 53%, totaling $169 million. During the quarter, Garmin successfully implemented custom controllers across all BMW Group car lines.
The Aviation segment also experienced 3% growth, reaching revenues of $205 million. Garmin founders Gary Burrell and Min Kao were inducted into the National Aviation Hall of Fame, recognizing their extraordinary contributions to the aviation industry.
The company continues to innovate with developments such as the Runway Occupancy Awareness feature, which alerts pilots to potential collisions on active runways, and the G3000 PRIME integrated flight deck, which offers the most advanced and safest features to date.
Finally, in the Nautical segment, revenues increased by 22%, generating $222 million. Garmin was named 2024 Manufacturer of the Year by the National Marine Electronics Association for the tenth consecutive year and was recognized as the number one company in marine innovation by Soundings Trade Only, consolidating its leadership in the sector.
