3 Application qualifications

(1) Must have an understanding of educational activities at elementary and junior high schools in Aichi Prefecture and projects implemented by Aichi Prefecture, and have the desire and ability to provide educational consultation and Japanese language instruction to foreign students.

(2) A person who is fluent in Japanese and the language in charge, and who falls under any of the following A to D.

A. Be familiar with the culture and lifestyle of Japan and the language area in which you are responsible.

B. Must be physically and mentally healthy and be able to work throughout the year.

C. Ability to collaborate with elementary and junior high school teachers and staff.

D. Must be able to commute to the education office where you will be located when working, and live in an address that does not interfere with your work (i.e., you can commute to the area you are planning to visit).

(3) Nationality does not matter. However, foreign national examinees must submit a copy of their “residence card” to confirm their period of stay, etc.

(4) Age doesn’t matter.

4 Business content

They will mainly conduct the following tasks by visiting public elementary schools or junior high schools in Aichi Prefecture or online based on the plans of the education office where they are assigned.

(1) Assistance with Japanese language instruction for students who require Japanese language instruction, as well as consultation regarding school life, adaptive guidance, and subject study guidance.

(2) Educational consultation for parents and interpretation for communication between parents and school

(3) Translation of textbooks and school notices, etc.

(4) Assistance in creating instruction manuals and teaching materials

(5) Assistance regarding parent-child exchange meetings, etc.

(6) Advice at faculty training sessions, etc.

(7) Interpretation and advice for career guidance, etc.

(8) Other duties ordered by the supervisor.

5 Status, period of appointment, etc.

(1) A part-time official in a general position who is appointed for the fiscal year as stipulated in Article 17 and Article 22-2 of the Local Public Service Act, and the number of working days is 5 days per week (within 29 hours per week).

(2) The term of appointment shall be from the date of employment until the last day of the fiscal year to which that date falls, and may be renewed up to two times if deemed necessary by the Aichi Prefectural Board of Education.

(3) In principle, the person shall be insured under the Employment Insurance Act, Health Insurance Act, and Employees’ Pension Insurance Act.

6 Working style/hours

(1) Visit public elementary schools and junior high schools in Aichi Prefecture or work at the education office where you are assigned.

(2) Working hours shall be no more than 29 hours per week, with a maximum of 7 hours and 45 minutes per day.

7 Remuneration and travel expenses

(1) Monthly remuneration: 224,520 yen (Reiwa 6 results)

Year-end diligence allowance: 3.4975 months (FY2020 results for newly hired employees)

Amount equivalent to commuting allowance: Amount depending on commuting method and distance

(2) Travel expenses required for the visit will be paid separately.

*Monthly compensation and year-end diligence allowance may change from the 2021 results due to various circumstances.

(1) After a medical examination and final confirmation of the applicant’s intentions, those who pass the exam will be selected as language counselors for foreign children by the Aichi Prefectural Board of Education in 2020 based on the results. An administrative meeting will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2020.

(2) Scheduled to be adopted after April 1, 2020.

11 Others

(1) Persons who fall under the disqualification provisions stipulated in Article 16 of the Local Public Service Act cannot take the examination.

(2) If it is found that there is any falsehood or fraud in the written documents or oral content regarding the examination, the examination will be canceled.

(3) Non-Japanese nationals can also apply, but if their status of residence restricts employment, they will not be accepted.

(4) The selection is based on the establishment of the budget for FY2020, and if the budget is not approved, the application may not be adopted.
