Pam Bodi is Donald Trump‘s new choice to lead the US Department of Justice as Matt Gates, Trump’s original pick for the specific amount, withdrew his nomination. We remind you that Gates has been reported for inappropriate sexual behavior, illegal drug use and sex with a minor at a party in New York.
Bondi, 59, was Florida’s first female attorney general, but is perhaps best known in recent years as a staunch ally of Donald Trump.
“I am proud to announce the former Attorney General of the great State of Florida, Pam Bondi, as the next Attorney General of the United States. Pam was a prosecutor for almost 20 years where she was very tough on violent criminals,” Trump said in a post on the Truth Social website.
Bondi was president at the America First Policy Institute, a thinktank created by former Trump administration officials, and served on its first transition team.
Trump advisers said Bondi was a good alternative to Gage because she has allies across the Republican party, as well as inside Trump’s inner circle, according to people familiar with the matter, the Guardian reported.
Pam Boddy’s journey
Prior to her involvement in national politics, Bondi spent more than 18 years as Hillsborough County District Attorney. She was a political unknown when she was elected as Florida’s first female attorney general in 2010 and had received the support of former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.
He served as Florida’s top prosecutor from 2011 to 2019 and later as a lobbyist for US and international clients.
Her tenure as attorney general also coincided with two of the most high profile and deadly murders. In 2016, after 47 people were shot and killed and more than 50 injured in an extremist attack at an LGBT+ nightclub in Orlando, Boddy was blasted on CNN by CNN’s Anderson Cooper for not wanting same-sex marriage in the state.
Two years later a juvenile former student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School opened fire, killing 17 students and school staff. Bondi called for the death penalty for the shooter and supported then-governor Rick Scott in passing the state’s first gun control legislation, which raised the minimum age to purchase a gun from 18 to 21.
Pam Boddy: Supporting Donald Trump’s legal cases
In 2016, the Associated Press revealed that Bondi solicited a $25,000 donation from Trump to her campaign, which was later revealed to have come from the Trump Foundation, in violation of laws barring charities from making political contributions. Bondi’s office decided not to participate in an investigation into the Trump University fraud case after receiving the donation, and her efforts to return the donation have reportedly failed.

Bondi later served as a member of Trump’s legal defense team during his impeachment trial in 2019. The case centered on allegations that Trump had linked military aid to Ukraine to the country’s willingness to investigate Joe Biden.
During Trump’s “hush money” trial, Bondi emerged as a staunch supporter, aligning herself with Trump’s position.
Bondi has been a vocal critic of the criminal cases against Trump, accusing prosecutors like Jack Smith of politicizing the legal process.
