ConfagriJob, website for manpower

Finding both specialized and general agricultural labor. Every year in Italy there is a shortage of around 200 thousand workers in the agricultural sector. Recruiting represents a great challenge for companies. For this reason, Confagricoltura, the first trade association in the sector, has decided to focus on technology and innovation by creating ConfagriJob, the digital service for finding personnel in agriculture. Developed in collaboration with the Umana Group, one of the main operators of human resources services, and with Indeed, the largest online recruitment platform in Italy, ConfagriJob was presented last week at Palazzo della Valle, in Rome, by the three project partners in the presence of Francesco Lollobrigida, Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry.

The service allows agricultural businesses, supported by the provincial unions of Confagricoltura, to publish job advertisements on a series of platforms with high attractive potential “indeed.com”cving.com” (company of the Umana Group) and “confagrijob.it” – which cover the entire Italian territory. Thanks to Artificial Intelligence, applications are filtered before being sent to companies so as to facilitate the matching of supply and demand. Throughout the process, the staff of the local offices of the Confederation remain available to companies via Hubfarm, the Confagricoltura digital platform.

In Campania, according to data released by Confagricoltura, 100 thousand units would be needed to satisfy the demand for labor in agriculture, but the number of people employed does not exceed 70 thousand. Therefore, around 30 thousand workers are missing to satisfy the demands of the primary sector, which has a strategic role in the regional economic panorama.

“The agricultural sector – he explains Fabrizio Marzano, president of Confagricoltura Campania – faces a significant challenge in terms of employment: the average age of the employees is very high, around 50 years, and there is an urgent need for manpower. It is essential to create the conditions so that those who wish to come to work in Italy from other countries can do so more easily.”

Measures must therefore be adopted to encourage the acquisition of specific skills, through adequate training courses and regularization programs for migrants arriving in Italy. “This approach – claims Marzano – would also contribute to combating the phenomenon of gangmastering, transforming this need into an opportunity for everyone. It should be remembered that, in Campania, companies no longer operate exclusively in the seasonal sector. However, in certain periods of the year, foreign labor becomes essential to manage seasonal peaks, guaranteeing crucial support to increase production and improve the competitiveness of the sector”.

We then need to facilitate an effective connection between businesses and workers. And this is the purpose for which Confagricoltura created ConfagriJob. “Confagricoltura – concluded Marzano – stands alongside businesses to support them, identifying innovative, accessible and easy-to-use tools to provide effective solutions. ConfagriJob was born with this objective, making use of the expertise of two excellences in the field of human resources, and joins Hubfarm, the digital platform where the needs of companies and the support provided by our local offices meet.”
