Purdy was injured last Sunday in a loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
An MRI test showed no structural damage, but his right shoulder didn’t really improve during the week.
Purdy will miss a game due to injury for the first time since December 2022, when he became the 49ers’ No. 1 quarterback.
Brandon Allen will be the starting quarterback against Green Bay (7-3).
Purdy had 2,613 air yards this season, ranking sixth in the NFL in this regard.
He threw 13 touchdown passes and threw eight interceptions.
Seventh in the league with seven sacks, defensive end Nick Bosa will also be missing with a hip and oblique injury.
Beaten in this year’s Super Bowl, the Niners (5-5) are in a three-club tie for second in their division, one game behind the Arizona Cardinals.
Given the 49ers’ strong defensive reputation, how much will Bosa’s absence truly impact their playoff chances, and can other players step up to fill the void?
