More than 300 applications for Dutch participation in the Eurovision Song Contest

Broadcaster AVROROS received more than three hundred songs when registering the Dutch entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025.

Until Friday evening, artists could submit their songs for the chance to represent the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest in Basel, Switzerland next year. It has not been announced which artists have heard themselves.

Joost Klein was offered the opportunity by AVROROS to represent the Netherlands again, but he declined. The singer Anouk, who participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2013 with Birds, suggest another song to be submitted this year.

In a very short time – AVROTRO only announced that it intends to participate again at the end of October – the broadcaster received 331 songs. “A large number and very good given the short period and additional conditions attached to the entry,” said the broadcaster.

For a long time it was not clear whether AVROTRO would participate again at all, because the disqualification by Klein at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö.

AVROTRO said that everything has to change at the festival. According to the broadcaster, that happened, which is why it was decided to participate again this year. “The Dutch public should not have to suffer from the disagreement between AVROROS and the EBU,” said general manager Taco Zimmerman.

In the coming weeks, the broadcaster’s selection committee will consider the many applications and decide who will represent the Netherlands in Basel.
