The fact that traffic in Suhr is a hot potato was already shown on Thursday evening by the rush of people who appeared at the community meeting: 456 of 5,855 eligible voters (7.8 percent) found their way to the Suhrer Bärenmatte despite the snow chaos, according to mayor Carmen Suter -Frey a record.

But there was also a lot at stake: namely a loan of 13.8 million francs for the community’s share of the Veras traffic relief project. Naturally, the debate ran high: of the 20 speakers, around half were in favor and the rest were against. Nevertheless, the result of the vote was quite clear: the loan was approved with such a large majority that the vote counters were not even used.

The Veras traffic relief project in Suhr was approved with a large majority at the community meeting on November 21, 2024.

In addition to Veras, the municipality’s new library regulations, with which use of the library will be subject to a fee for the first time, as well as a commitment loan of 680,000 francs for general drainage planning (GEP 2nd generation) were also voted on. Both happened without discussion and with a large majority of approval. And finally, the 2025 budget was also approved by Suhr: With the tax rate remaining the same at 112 percent, this expects a loss of 475,000 francs.
