The works have been carried out by the students of the Painting classroom of the Popular University in order to support this non-profit organization, which provides humanitarian aid to people in vulnerable situations in the African country.
The Agüimes Art Room will host the exhibition until December 27 Solidarity artists: Canary Islands NGO with Mozambique. The exhibition brings together more than thirty realist, impressionist and surrealist works made by the students of the Painting classroom at the Popular University of Agüimes in order to support the altruistic work of this organization, which provides humanitarian aid to people in vulnerable situations in the African country.
In the exhibited paintings, traditions, customs and landscapes of African people are immortalized, using oil and acrylic techniques. The idea of setting up the exhibition came from the students of the Popular University. After transmitting the idea to their Painting teacher, Tony Sánchez, they began to create works that represented not only the daily life of African countries, but also their own personality.
The paintings will become the property of the NGO, which with their future commercialization will be able to finance its projects and activities in Mozambique. Currently, 60% of the country’s population lives in extreme poverty and lacks access to basic services such as drinking water or healthcare. Non-profit organizations such as Canarias con Mozambique are responsible for transforming that reality through educational and health projects. Throughout his 25 years, he has helped rebuild houses and dig wells and promoted community garden projects in rural areas.
The opening of the exhibition will take place this Friday, November 22, at 8:00 p.m., in the Agüimes Art Room, located on the second floor of the House of Culture. The exhibition, completely free, can be visited from Monday to Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
