Dissatisfaction with Klæbo after an interview with NRK: – Getting angry!

BEITOSTØLEN / OSLO (Nettavisen): Klæbo’s recent interview with Frenchman Lucas Chanavat caused discontent in the national team.

According to Nettavisen’s experience, the interview, conducted by NRK, led to Klæbo being criticized by the management of the national team.

At a press conference in Beitostølen on Thursday, Klæbo confirms that the coach of the national team Arild Monsen responded to the statements of the Trønder.

– Arild was angry, yes. He was annoyed, but I had to tell him the same thing, that the interview has been cut. He, of all people, should understand that, says Klæbo.

The online newspaper has tried to contact NRK on Thursday, so far without success.

It is well known in the cross country community that Klæbo has a good relationship with France’s Chanavat, and the two have trained together several times.

They also did this before the season during their peak stay in the Italian Livigno at the beginning of October-November.

In an interview that was shown on Dagsrevyen on November 7, the two appeared and talked about their good relationship.

Among other things, Klæbo could say that he wishes the Frenchman the best of luck in the next competition in Trondheim this winter.

– For me, the best thing is that I win and he comes second.

– Are you such good friends that you want him to beat the other Norwegians?

– Ehhh, in a way, Klæbo says a little hesitantly in the interview, before being cut.

Blame it on the rock

Klæbo explains to questions from TV 2 that the NRK interview was cut so that he could not finish his answer.

– The interview is cut there, maybe that’s all I have to say. There is not much more I can do. I had a complete answer there, but it didn’t come out, so I understand that you are asking the question, says Klæbo.

– I don’t know how to answer either, when I’m standing there with Chanavat, it’s a bit like standing with your in-laws and they ask you if you want celebrate Christmas with them or your family. You prepare yourself a bit better then and think about what you’re answering, so maybe that’s what I tried to do. So it’s a pity that it was cut like that, I see that it didn’t turn out so well, no, said the Norwegian.

– He is getting too stupid

Klæbo says to Nettavisen that he has not spoken to his colleagues in the national team about the matter.

– So I expect they didn’t answer. And if so, I think many of them understand that it is not the easiest thing to answer if they were in the same situation, with someone you are trying to be nice to, Klæbo explains to Nettavisen.

– I was standing there with a friend who I wish the best of luck, of course I want my teammates to do well, but when you stand there with him, you try to his answer around the porridge and nicely, said the Trønder.

He says he had to laugh because there were comments afterwards.

– I just had to laugh, it’s too stupid, there’s nothing else to say. It’s not an issue, anyway.
